Law Offices of Kenneth J. Steinberg, P.A.
Durham Personal Injury Lawyer
Overview
Kenneth Steinberg is an actively practicing attorney in Durham, North Carolina, and has been assisting his clients since 1993. Kenneth grew up in northern New Jersey. Kenneth completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Delaware, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Biology. Kenneth attended law school at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law in Cleveland, Ohio. He worked at several distinguished law firms in Cleveland as a law clerk and developed a strong desire to help individuals with injuries and those accused of criminal offenses. Kenneth graduated law school in 2 1/2 years, far ahead of his classmates at Cleveland-Marshall.
Kenneth moved to Chapel Hill in December of 1992 and studied for the North Carolina State Bar exam. Kenneth sat for the Bar exam in February of 1993, and upon successful completion he was sworn in as an attorney in March of 1993.
Kenneth began his law career at Bourlon and Associates, practicing exclusively in the areas of personal injury, workers' compensation, criminal defense, and traffic court representation. Over the course of time, and as a result of a continuous successful practice, Kenneth was made a Partner, and the law firm was re-named Bourlon and Steinberg, P.A.
In August of 2000, Kenneth resigned from Bourlon and Steinberg, and went out on his own, forming a solo practice in northern Durham. Kenneth continued to focus his practice on exclusive representation for those injured and accused. After six successful years, Kenneth moved the office location to a brand new and expanded office space at the Roxboro Road Professional Center.
Kenneth has successfully represented thousands of individuals over his career, and he takes pride in the fact that he provides individual care and attention to each case and client. Kenneth has purposefully kept his law practice as a solo project to ensure that each and every client receives his exclusive representation and focus. Kenneth does not pass off his cases to paralegals or associate attorneys.
Kenneth represents individuals from all parts of the Triangle area and Central North Carolina. He routinely appears before the District and Superior Courts of Durham, Wake, and Orange Counties. Kenneth is a member of the 14th Judicial Bar Association. He is also admitted to practice before the United States District Courts in the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
