These enterprises successfully operate in the ethanol, soybean processing and biodiesel fuel, and livestock production industries. He provides legal services in the areas of organization structure, taxation, equity offerings, finance, construction and general operations.
Jim's clients include agricultural processors and enterprises, banks, medical practices, real estate developers. contractors, retail sales, professional services, and manufacturers.

Jim has served on numerous community boards. He is currently a member of the Volunteers of America and the Dakotas Foundation in Sioux Falls, SD. He is also a board member for the Sioux Empire United Way and serves on the Business Leadership Council of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2009 Jim was named to the Avera McKennan board of trustees. He also serves as the chairperson for the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation.
