    Consulted Law firm 2021-2024
Will not communicate with other attorneys, will not respond to judges deadlines, VERY unprofessional Handling a very simple probate case, and dragging it out for years(still going on) When we try to communicate, it’s crickets.

    Hired Law firm 2016-2020
My case went all the way through Trial. It was unnecessarily long. Many actions and the fees charged were unnecessary. None of the legal information was accurate. Mandatory deadlines were not met. My concerns weren't addressed. Dan didn't know basic facts. Early on the defendant changed the focus from what he had done to him being my victim. Dan never regained control. At trial Dan used the defendant's evidence not mine. The exhibits were sloppy, duplicate copies were presented or had missing pages. At trial Dan was timid and confused. He sat quietly, never objected while the defendant badgered me, libel me and perjured himself. The judge finally intervened on my behalf, stating because Dan hadn't objected she hadn't stopped the defendant. The defendant didn't stop. Dan still didn't object. He gave up trying to question the defendant after 3 minutes The defendant is a high school drop out that defended himself!. My civil rights were violated under The American With Disabilities Act by Dan. I was given a partial award only because the defendant said I was his lender. Not because of anything did.Dan claimed an overwhelming victory because I didn't have anything in writing. Letter stating deposition &1,000.00. I was charged an additional $3,000.00 because his assistant wiped out a flash drive.  I have Dan's fee for trial, 1 day prep, 2 days trial or 27 hours, $2,500.00, in writing twice. Dan's charge $7,965.00. With Dan's representation I went from trying to recover $40,000.00 to being $80,000.00 + in debit with no chance of recovery in my lifetime. I am a disabled, low income, senior. I would owe $23,000.00 if I hadn't hired Dan Mckinney.  If this is the overwhelming victory you are looking for Dan's your man.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
