Richard K. Critchlow was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1966. He received a J.D. in 1965 from the University of California, Hastings College of Law. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1962.

He worked in San Francisco as a solo practitioner and as an associate in a boutique firm in the Financial District. In 1982 Richard joined forces with Robert Diskint and launched their firm, Critchlow & Diskint, in Sausalito, Marin County. Richard has lengthy criminal defense experience in San Francisco and Marin County. He has a reputation for aggressively pursuing a favorable resolution of criminal charges against his clients. He specializes in defending persons charged with sexual misconduct, molestation, and domestic violence.

His felony criminal jury trials have been the subject of much media coverage over the years. He has represented many clients in family law matters, emphasizing child custody disputes. His family law clients seek him out for mature, experienced and sound lawyering. The senior partner of Critchlow & Diskint has successfully litigated employment discrimination claims, including workplace sexual harassment, will and trust contests, sexual molestation, and bodily injury claims. Richard was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. He is the son and grandson of Utah lawyers. When he was a boy he had a horse named "Paint".
