Greenwood Village Family Law Lawyer
Overview
When I decided I wanted to pursue a career in law more than 25 years ago, I had no idea how much I would truly enjoy the practice as much as I do. I grew up in Colorado, not far from where our law firm is located just south of Denver in Greenwood Village. I have been a domestic practitioner in Colorado for more than two decades, helping hundreds of individuals seek change and resolution in their personal lives...

When I decided I wanted to pursue a career in law more than 25 years ago, I had no idea how much I would truly enjoy the practice as much as I do. I grew up in Colorado, not far from where our law firm is located just south of Denver in Greenwood Village. I have been a domestic practitioner in Colorado for more than two decades, helping hundreds of individuals seek change and resolution in their personal lives. I am a proud graduate of Colorado State University (Go Rammies!) and a Cum Laude graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law (Go Bulldogs!). I practice family law exclusively, representing clients statewide in their dissolution of marriage cases, allocation of parental responsibilities, support matters, paternity and adoption. I am a child of divorced parents, and I understand the trauma and confusion that comes with being exposed to conflict and uncertainty when you are young. I use my personal and professional perspective built over decades to help my clients navigate what is typically the most difficult journey of their lives. I’ve been there, I understand.
In addition to my private practice, I lecture groups of students, lawyers, paralegals and other professionals on a wide variety of topics from adoptions to effective advocacy in the family law courtroom through the Colorado Bar Association, National Business Institute and the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law.
I also participate on the Executive Council of the Family Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association (since 2012), recently wrapping up my year as Chair of the Section and Chair of the 2019 Annual CBA Family Law Institute. I am a member of the Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas-Elbert and Colorado Bar Associations, and a Fellow of the Colorado Bar Foundation. I am a Past-President of the Douglas-Elbert Bar Association and in 2009 I was presented with the Douglas-Elbert Bar Association Professionalism Award.
Outside of my practice, I enjoy anything outdoors in our beautiful state! That includes camping, boating, hiking, skiing (both snow and water) and taking our pugs for a walk! I enjoy cooking and getting together with my wonderful friends and laughing at what life brings us. I have four beautiful children who motivate me every day to do what I do the very best way I can.
I handle all kinds of domestic matters from child support modification to dissolution of marriage. I also serve as a Court-Appointed Guardian ad Litem in probate matters in Colorado, and I am trained as a Child and Family Investigator and mediator. Along with my partner of nearly a decade, we provide private legal representation, mediation, arbitration and other consulting services both together as a team and separately.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
