His litigation experience includes trade secret and patent trials and arbitrations as well as appellate experience including appeals to the Courts of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Ninth Circuit. He has successfully led several high-stakes intellectual property litigation teams. Mike handled the technical portions of a trade secret case involving hard disk drive technology, obtaining a damages award for his client of $525 million.
Mike has handled cases involving a wide range of technologies including hard disk drives, pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, polymer chemistry, cement chemistry, computer telephony, digital printing, electronic controls, and diesel engines.
Mike is committed to pro bono work, handling immigration matters involving abused and neglected minors and a Ninth Circuit due process appeal.
Mike has served as a visiting assistant professor of chemistry at Duke University and a postdoctoral research associate in the department of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of California, San Diego. Mike was awarded the Wentink and DuPont awards for his graduate research and teaching at Cornell University. He has published extensively in his field.
