A divorce like the death of a loved one is one of the most traumatic events in a person's lifetime. Shoddy or substandard service is not acceptable. Gabrielle Davis is a lawyer who will treat you with dignity as an individual not just another case file. She knows how emotional, scary and frustrating a divorce can be.
The Law Firm of Gabrielle S. Davis, P.C. puts a great deal of emphasis on communication. "We like to start the initial consultation by telling clients what they can and can't get in the long run from proceeding whether it is a divorce, a change in a existing decree or any other controversy involving family law." If the client has impractical or unrealistic expectations, we can work that out in the open." Since Gabrielle Davis is the head of her own firm, she has the flexibility to design a trial strategy with attention to organization and detail.
Attorney Gabrielle Davis has a rich and diverse background. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature at Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois before earning her Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law. She chose to practice in the area of matrimonial law for two reasons. "There's something tangible and long-term at stake in matrimonial and family law, in that you are dealing with litigation that will affect people's lives directly and secondly, family law is an excellent field for woman. The focus is generally on reconciliation and the litigation aspect tends to be family and relationship centered - areas in which woman have traditionally excelled."
Gabrielle Davis has been a lawyer for almost two decades. She embodies the best qualities of a true advocate: an attorney who is committed to your case, yet detached enough to look at it objectively.
"As a single parent, I understand how intense emotions can get especially when a person is dealing with issues like custody and visitation rights," she adds. Gabrielle Davis is both aggressive and compassionate. She has a strong background in litigation having done extensive trial work. Still she says that she relies on aggressive litigation only as a last resort, once all avenues of amicable mediation have failed. Her first instinct is to attempt to achieve fast, focused and fair settlement but if that doesn't work, she is more than willing to enter aggressive litigation. Divorce or any matter involving children can be a difficult process but Gabrielle Davis can ease the process.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
