He was a member of the Bench-Bar Committee, Mississippi Bar Association (2006-2008), and the Mississippi Workers' Compensation Educational Committee (2007-2008). Military Training
Yancy is a former U.S. Army Armor Officer and combat veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served as a Battalion staff officer assigned to 1-198th Armor Battalion, 155th Brigade Combat Team, An Najaf, Iraq. During his tour in Iraq, he also served as the Judicial & Security Liaison Officer to Najaf & Karbala provincial judicial system (U.S. Army; Operation Iraqi Freedom III, 2005-2006). He was honorably discharged at the rank and grade of Major while serving as a Plans Officer & Support Operations Officer, MSARNG.
