Julie George represented my daughter in court and I am the legal guardian of my adult daughter. Ms. George met me in the hallway before the hearing and was rude, dismissive and condescending. She told me hat there would not be a hearing because my daughter had stipulated to the petition and the judge would not talk to me and that I needed to leave. This was not true, there was a hearing held and my daughter's rights to have a witness was denied her. Secondly, she told me to drop my guardianship that according to the law it wasn't needed any longer. Not true and I tried to tell her so and she told me to be quiet and not interrupt her. Thirdly, she told me the judges decision would not transfer from Salt Lake down to Utah County but be null and void. What a crock!!! I am considering legal action against her for misrepresenting (lying) about the law. Either she doesn't know the law or she was blatantly lying to me to make sure I wasn't in the hearing and that I don't help my daughter in the future.

If you are seeking an attorney who will fight for justice and advocate fiercely on behalf of her clients—Julie George is not the one. My family hired her to represent my son, in a case that was not only outdated but riddled with inconsistencies and clear signs of prosecutorial misconduct. From the start, Ms. George asked us to collect evidence and documentation to support my son's defense, which we did—only for her to never use or mention any of it. When we sought clarification or asked questions about the strategy or direction of the case, we were met with defensiveness and accusations of being “hostile,” as though a client should not question or seek understanding from their legal representation. Rather than fighting for justice, Julie George took our money and gave us nothing in return—no real effort, no advocacy, and certainly no results. Her handling of the case was unprofessional and disheartening. She failed to uphold her oath as an attorney and did not represent my son to the best of her ability. The justice system in Utah is deeply flawed, especially for Black and Brown individuals. It often feels as though the presumption of innocence does not apply here, and unfortunately, Ms. George did nothing to challenge or rise above that reality. She failed my son and failed us as a family. I strongly caution anyone considering her for legal representation—look elsewhere. You deserve an attorney who is responsive, accountable, and committed to justice. Unfortunately, that was not our experience with Julie George.

Worst attorney ever! No communication. Just shows up for hearing. Do waste your time or your money.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
