Renee developed her fastidious work ethic from her agricultural upbringing in Dubuque County, Iowa. Her sharp analytical mind initially drew her to study health sciences, but ultimately she pursued a law degree after seeing the legal profession as an opportunity to have greater impact. Her attributes are well-suited to the practice of law and have translated into a successful legal career. Attorney Read was previously a member of a general practice law firm in Janesville, where she was able to establish a strong foundation in multiple areas of law; that expansive knowledge and background continues to benefit her and her clients in the specialized practice she has today. Renee relocated to the Fox Cities and joined Remley & Sensenbrenner in 2010, and has since become a shareholder.
Numerous organizations have recognized Renee for her leadership and professional excellence. She was chosen as a Wisconsin Rising Star four years in a row by SuperLawyers Magazine (2015-2018), and has received distinction from Attorney & Practice Magazine, American Society of Legal Advocates, American Institute of Family Law Attorneys, and the National Academy of Family Law Attorneys. Attorney Read serves on the State Bar of Wisconsin Leadership Development Committee and was elected in 2019 to the Bar Board of Governors for which she also acts as the liaison to the Dispute Resolution Section Board. Renee is also heavily involved in her community, and deservedly received the Fox Cities Future 15 Award in 2013.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
