We hired these guys in 2020 to handle a comp case. I settled with the understanding EVERYTHING would be taken care of medical wise that was done prior to settling. TWO years later I?m starting to get bills and I called them to see what?s going on. They said IT WAS MY PROBLEM. Do not hire them. All they care about is themselves.

"Hello Gary, We're sorry to learn of the recent bill you received and your confusion. It is now over 2 years since you signed the settlement agreement so it is understandable that you have forgotten the details. The issues as we see them are: (1) a copy of this bill was not provided to our office prior to settlement negotiations, (2) you don't remember the conditions contained in your settlement (no additional future or past medical will be paid by the workers comp carrier), (3) your case was EXTREMELY problematic given a severe lack of objective evidence supporting your injury claim, but despite this we were able to get you over 7 times what we said your case was worth. Your negative review is completely baffling to us. I suppose this is proof that "no good deed goes unpunished." If you would like to discuss further you can reach out to the business manager, Jacob Hill, directly. Davis & Sanchez"

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
