Mr. Schaff represents businesses, employers and injured individuals in all aspects of civil litigation. He has tried high-exposure matters to verdict in both state and federal courts throughout California. He began his legal career defending professional liability claims against attorneys, which required him to litigate in some of the most complicated areas of law, including ERISA and mergers and acquisitions. He has also handled employment matters, officers and director disputes, and catastrophic personal injury cases. Mr. Schaff brings a unique background to the firm as a prior claims adjuster with a large insurance company.
Mr. Schaff is admitted to practice law in California and all federal district courts in California. He has been named a Rising Star in the Northern California Super Lawyers from 2009 to 2017. Since 2018 he has been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer. In 2021, Sacramento Magazine named Mr. Schaff as a Top Lawyer in Sacramento.
In addition to his work at Flesher Schaff & Schroeder, Mr. Schaff has been an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at the Pacific McGeorge School of Law for the last 16 years. Mr. Schaff graduated as Order of the Coif and Order of the Barristers from Pacific McGeorge in 2006. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, in 1999.
Mr. Schaff is a past President of the Barristers' Club of Sacramento and helped establish a diversity pipeline program for at-risk students at a local high school, which is now modeled by similar programs across the country. He is currently a board member of the Federal Bar Association, Sacramento Chapter.
