Hired Law firm 2009-2023I have worked with Judith and her law firm quite a few times over the years since 2009. She's always gone above and beyond and she always cares about me as her client! She does a thorough excellent job and covers all aspects of whatever situation we are addressing. She's a critical thinker and I really appreciate that about her!

Hired Law firm 2009-2019Judith has been my attorney since 2008. She is a kind and caring person and has always taken great care in all our dealings. She has prepared a will for my husband and me, has helped form two of our LLC's and taken the time to get to know our family and our needs. She is always available for consultation in whatever business needs I've had. I appreciate her knowledge and advice over the years.

Hired Law firm 2019We asked this woman to draw up a sales agreement. She did not draw up what we asked her to. It was as if she hadn't even listened to what we wanted, even though we had given her a written outline. Instead, she created an entirely different contract, added several layers of work to be done in the years to come - which she could bill out. She even went so far as to insinuate billable hours for her husband (also an attorney) into the draft contract that she presented us with. Upon being told that I would not sign a contract that she had worked on, she continued to work, and then presented us with a bill for several thousand dollars. This woman is crazy - capital C.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
