Law Offices of Jennifer S. Goldman, P.L.L.C.
Dallas Child Welfare Lawyer
Overview
I have worked for many years directly in the courtroom setting, either as an assistant district attorney, a lawyer appointed by the courts to represent parents and children embroiled in courtroom battles, or as a lawyer representing individuals in divorces and custody disputes.
Because I see that the court process is almost always traumatic for all parties, with costs that mount ridiculously high and emotions that escalate out of control, I embrace all dispute resolution processes that allow people to exercise control over their own case. In line with this philosophy, I mediate custody, family and CPS cases on a regular basis, and I wholeheartedly endorse the collaborative/cooperative law process. I also previously served as a City of Dallas associate municipal court judge, where I endeavored to resolve all disputes as efficiently as possible within the confines of the law.
My goal with the Law Offices of Jennifer S. Goldman, P.L.L.C. is to use this experience to help people resolve family conflicts in the most streamlined, respectful and financially responsible way possible. Because my clients believe that the welfare of their children necessitates them being civil to their spouse/significant other/relative, they tend to value communication, creativity and flexibility. Ultimately, they believe that their future, as well as the child's future, is more important than the past.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
