Solomon Dwiggins Freer & Steadman, LTD. dedicates the majority of its practice to representing clients in connection with the resolution of disputes arising out of trust and estate matters. Our attorneys bring the requisite experience and knowledge to a wide range of probate and trust litigation matters. The firm has extensive experience successfully representing heirs, beneficiaries, private and professional fiduciaries and creditors in matters involving accounting actions, trust and will construction, trust reformation, trust and will contests, fiduciary removal, breach of fiduciary duty and surcharge actions, fraud, undue influence and incapacity claims.
Solomon Dwiggins & Freer, Ltd. provides an array of estate planning and asset protection planning services with the goal of effectuating the client's succession desires while at the same time minimizing estate and other transfer taxes. We regularly advise clients on the use of asset protection trusts, grantor trusts, qualified personal residence trusts, limited liability companies, and other structures allowing clients to benefit from the strong asset protection laws of Nevada while, at the same time, benefiting from sound tax planning. We often represent families with both United States and non-United States property.
The firm's tax attorneys represent clients in IRS tax controversies including audits, appeals, and Tax Court litigation proceedings. Consistent with the firm's focus on trust and estate matters, the bulk of our tax controversy work involves estate tax audits. However, we also represent many clients regarding large income tax disputes. The firm regularly represents clients in declaring and repatriating offshore funds (the so-called "voluntary disclosure" process).

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
