Found this attorney to be very gruff. Felt like he?s checked out, on his way to retire and couldn?t care less at this point.

My livelihood and career future was under threat! I am a nurse and I love my job. Unfortunately, I had a case with the Maryland nursing board. I did not know what to do and I was afraid they were going to take away my license. Fortunately, I found Mr. Bregman....... and I am so glad I did! He knew exactly what to do, seemed to know everyone at the board, and help me through this difficult time. I recommend them highly for any licensed healthcare worker who is dealing with a complaint or charge at the board. You will not find a better advocate. He has a medical background, so that was even more amazing and helped with his understanding of the case. He fought for me like no one has ever fought before, but did it with tact and savvy, so that the board did not feel he was telling them what to do. He convinced them instead with his knowledge and experience, and I was able to avoid disciplinary action. He remains cool under the most difficult of circumstances, facing a panel of board members that were firing questions left and right. He was well prepared and organized, but most importantly, he prepared with me for hours and organized our defense. Any medical provider facing this type of situation must immediately contact him for help. Highly recommended!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
