She has experience in all aspects of motion practice before state and federal courts, depositions of fact and expert witnesses, preparation of complex expert reports, as well as mediation, and managing and coordinating large discovery efforts.
Hema also has substantial experience in appellate matters. She has participated in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the California Supreme Court and served as a judicial clerk.
Hema devotes a substantial portion of her time to pro bono matters, which have included representations of individuals in asylum and refugee cases and other immigration proceedings.
Hema is a board member of the South Asian Bar Association of Southern California. She is also involved with the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles, where she has served on the board of governors.
