Attorney Information
Overview
Travis is the Managing Attorney at Atwood Law, PC, LLO. In this role, he oversees business operations and supports each of the firm’s litigation teams as they strive to secure industry-leading outcomes for the firm’s clients. At the same time, Travis represents his own clients, focusing his practice exclusively on Nebraska workers’ compensation, wrongful death, and personal injury claims.
As a born-and-raised Nebraskan, Travis takes pride in traveling statewide to meet his clients where they live and work. His legal practice has taken him from Chadron to Falls City, and from South Sioux City to McCook. While he currently makes his home outside of Ashland and splits his time between the firm’s Lincoln and Omaha offices, Travis looks forward to opportunities to meet clients and try cases in greater Nebraska. Travis is presently accepting clients across all of Nebraska.
From an early age, Travis was driven by competition. When younger, this competitive drive was on display in athletic and academic accomplishments. He learned at an early age that outworking the competition and setting big goals produces exceptional results. This same mindset has translated to his legal career, where his competitive drive and work ethic have helped hundreds of clients prevail against large corporate interests. The accomplishments of his 19-year legal career speak for themselves—certain noteworthy recent results are listed alongside this Biography.
Travis also prides himself on being easy to talk to about challenging laws, facts, and legal strategies. He credits his humble rural Nebraska upbringing for his ability to speak clearly with anyone on these topics. To this day, despite his firm management responsibilities, Travis prides himself on answering his phone when clients call, or being quick to return client calls and emails if clients reach out while he is in Court for another client. Client testimonials below and on Google tell more of the story. Clients should not be waiting for weeks to get answers from their lawyer. Travis’s clients do not.
On a personal note, Travis loves the outdoors, sports, and travel. A father of three boys, Travis values his family time and seeks every opportunity to get away from the city to be immersed in nature. When his work schedule allows, Travis silences his phone and ventures out to hike one of our National Parks, to sit in a treestand hunting whitetail back home near Pawnee City, to catch a Husker baseball or football game with his boys, or to make a quick road trip to Chicago for a weekend series at Wrigley Field.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
