Joshua B. Clark is the owner and founder of the Law Offices of Joshua B. Clark, A Professional Law Corporation. Mr. Clark is a Sacramento native and a graduate of University of Pacific, McGeorge School of Law. After graduating from law school in 2000, Mr. Clark practiced complex civil litigation for several large firms in the Bay Area. Gaining invaluable litigation skills working for the larger firms, Mr. Clark returned to the Sacramento area in 2005 with the goal of working for a smaller firm whose focus was assisting individuals and small businesses.
In July 2005, Mr. Clark was hired as an associate by attorney David. W. Byers, owner of the Law Offices of David W. Byers. Through working side by side with Mr. Byers, an accomplished trial attorney and litigator, Mr. Clark sharpened his trial skills and his ability to analyze complex legal problems and provide solutions to his clients.
In July 2008, Mr. Byers retired from the practice of law and Mr. Clark purchased Mr. Byers' practice of 30 years. Following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Mr. Clark s practice continues to specialize in real estate litigation and transactions, business litigation and transactions, landlord-tenant law and estate planning. Mr. Clark represents a variety of clients from homeowners to real estate professionals to small businesses in the greater Sacramento area. Mr. Clark is committed to providing his clients with exceptional and affordable representation.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
