Overview
Matthew S. Payne Mr. Payne graduated Cum Laude from Rosary College (now known as Dominican University ) in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Mr. Payne received his Juris Doctorate from DePaul University College of Law with Honors in 2001 and graduated in the top 5% of the graduating class. He was also awarded the Order of the Coif at DePaul and was admitted to practice before the Illinois Bar and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois the same year. Mr. Payne has extensive experience in real estate law and has been heavily involved in this area since 1996, concentrating his practice on landlord-tenant law, including specialization in forcible detainer cases (evictions) and Chicago Residential Landlord and Tenant Ordinance cases, as well as other real estate litigation, including mechanics liens, mortgage foreclosure, partition and breach of contract. Mr. Payne has also been personally involved in over 5,000 real estate transactions (closings) during that time. Mr. Payne has worked extensively with developers on condominium conversions, and has additional experience in civil and commercial litigation, estate planning, including wills, living trusts, powers of attorney for health care and property and living wills.
