As an Advisor to the State Bar's Executive Committee on Family Law (FLEXCOM), Melinda is responsible for commenting on pending family law legislation in the State of California, including appearing in Sacramento to consult on changes to pending legislation. Melinda was a Member of FLEXCOM from 2013-2016 and served as Chair of the Education Committee.
Melinda regularly acts as a Settlement Master and Attorney for the Day for the San Francisco Superior Court. Melinda has also guest lectured at Hastings College of the Law.
Prior to joining the firm, Melinda earned recognition for acting and public speaking. She is a member of both the Screen Actors Guild and the American Federation of Television and Radio. She has lived in Spain and speaks conversational Spanish.

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
