Verified ClientHired Law firm 2021It was a pleasure working with Judith, she explained everything very clearly for my will, power of attorney and designation of healthcare. She answered a few questions to help me understand a few things. I highly recommend Judith, I’m sure you’ll be very happy with her.

Hired Law firm 2007-2008Hired Mrs. Wilson in 2007 for uncontested divorce. Mrs. Wilson was the sole legal representative in the original filing. Although borrowing wording from other similar cases is a common practice among attorneys, in this case, her lack of attention to detail resulted in many errors. A few years later, I ended up hiring a different attorney to petition the court to amend and correct some of those errors. I've recently made a claim for benefits according to the Settlement Agreement and discovered more errors. This "borrowing" from other documents leaves conflicting wording in the Settlement Agreement and Final Order. Paragraphs reflect certain terms but the wording that follows in subsequent paragraphs modifies original intent resulting in a haphazard mess that causes significant irreparable damage.

Hired Law firm 2021Working with Mrs Wilson was truly an amazing experience. For something that is usually looked at as a stressful situation, Mrs Wilson made things as clear and stress free as possible! She answered all of my questions and made sure I was knowledgeable of everything that was going on.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
