Visalia Workers' Compensation Lawyer

Overview

While I was not born in California, I have spent the majority of my life here in the Central Valley. Both my father and mother and their respective families are from Tulare County, and I was raised in Woodlake. After graduating from Woodlake High School, I went to College of Sequoias where I played football and was on the track team. Thereafter, I enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. After being Honorably Discharged, I returned to College of Sequoias before transferring to Fresno State University where I studied physiology and anatomy. After graduating from Fresno State University, I applied and was accepted to San Joaquin College of Law, from which I graduated in 2002 with the degree of Juris Doctor.

I have worked in the field of workers’ compensation since my first year of law school; working as a law clerk in the morning and afternoon while going to law school at night. It is a field of law that puts me in touch with people from all walks of life, from bank vice presidents to farm laborers. My undergraduate degree has helped me immensely, as any workers’ compensation case will deal with injury or disease of the human body. Our office continually strives to obtain optimal results for our clients, no matter what type of problem we face.

Furthermore, my support staff, i.e. Myki McKinney, Olga Marquez, and Mona Rowe make the daily problems much easier to handle.

In an effort to keep the work and issues that arise daily from becoming overwhelming, I am an avid hunter, fisher, and outdoorsman. In addition to being a collector of landscape paintings, I am a writer and a painter.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
