Mark A. Wisniewski was a member of the law firm of Dorian, Goldstein, Wisniewski & Orchinik for over 25 years. He passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2007 at the young age of 52. Mark had been a managing partner of the firm since 1987. His practice focused mainly in the areas of estates & wills. Throughout his career, Mark donated a substantial amount of his time and expertise to providing free legal services to disadvantaged clients. Following his death, the firm received hundreds of cards and letters from Mark’s clients expressing their appreciation and gratitude for Mark’s help and friendship.

Mark grew up in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Sacred Heart Parochial School of Swedesburg, Upper Merion Senior High School (Class of 1972), Penn State University (Class of 1976) and Villanova University School of Law (1979). He received the Eagle Scout award in 1970. Mark and his family lived in King of Prussia, where Mark loved working with children and coaching various youth sports in Upper Merion.

Mark was also actively involved with many charitable organizations, and committed a great deal of his time to the Sacred Heart Church of Swedesburg, the Parish Holy Name Society and the Polish Festival Committee. He also was a dedicated Eucharistic Minister at the Sacred Heart Parish Church and at the Basilica of Saints Peters and Paul in Philadelphia. He was a strong advocate for, and provided free services to, Mother Theresa and her Little Sisters of the Poor in Norristown.

Mark was an avid outdoorsman, skilled fisherman and accomplished tennis player. He was very devoted to his wife, Laureen, and their three children: Andrew, Megan and Kate.

After Mark’s passing, many of Mark’s friends and family members commented that Mark was “larger than life”. He will always be deeply missed, but fondly remembered, by all of us here at Dorian Goldstein, as well as by the many clients, friends and family members whose lives he touched.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
