A native of New Jersey, Rosemarie Fiorillo is a graduate of Rutgers University where she majored in Environmental Sciences with a concentration in Chemistry. While pursuing her undergraduate degree, Ms. Fiorillo was selected by the Environmental Sciences Department for a laboratory research position, which culminated in the publication of her original laboratory research, Herbicide and Estrogen Effects on the Metabolic Activity of Elliptio complanata Measured by Calorespirometry. The research was made possible through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy. Ms. Fiorillo's laboratory work continued after she joined AT&T Bell Laboratories, Environmental Health & Safety Department, where she studied and analyzed water quality. Upon graduating, Ms. Fiorillo joined an environmental engineering firm, but her concern and passion for the environment, and more specifically the importance of clean water, prompted her to consider a career in the law. After working within the environmental law department of a large national law firm, Ms. Fiorillo decided to attend law school.
At Seton Hall University School of Law, Ms. Fiorillo was a faculty research assistant and interned at Lucent Technologies' Microelectronics Department. She is proud of her service as the President of the Peter W. Rodino, Jr. law society. As President, Ms. Fiorillo was honored with the Mary Franzese Humanitarian Award in recognition of her integrity, service and compassion. After graduation she worked as a litigator in fast paced New York and New Jersey law firms representing multi-national clients. Fluent in Italian, she worked in Europe as part of an anti-trust team which decoded a price fixing scheme using multiple languages.
Ms. Fiorillo joined Korein Tillery in 2010 as part of a trial team representing water providers throughout the United States in connection with the contamination of their raw water sources by the weed killer atrazine. For her very successful work in that litigation she was nominated as one of the Trial Lawyers of the Year in 2013 by the Trial Lawyers for Public Justice.
Ms. Fiorillo is extremely interested in environmental issues which affect the health and well-being of people throughout the world. She dedicates her legal practice and much of her private time to environmental and scientific issues. She is also an amateur wine maker.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
