He went on to attend the University of Tennessee where he was an active member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. In 2006 he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with dual concentrations in Business Management and International Business.
After Will’s first year at the University of Tennessee he began working for Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc. This was a working education that would last throughout his time at UT and continue after graduation. Ultimately, his four years of experience at Wright Brothers included nearly all facets of heavy highway and landfill construction and spanned several southern states including Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Will’s construction experience and passion for the construction industry led him to pursue a legal education in hopes of someday being able to apply his practical knowledge of the construction industry to his clients’ needs. In 2007, when Will made the decision to pursue a law degree he began working for Jerry N. Estes Law Offices, P.L.L.C. as a Research Assistant.
In 2008, Will was accepted to the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia where he served as both Managing Editor of the Appalachian Natural Resources Law Journal and Citation Editor for the Thirtieth and Thirty-First Editions of the Annual Energy & Mineral Law Institute for the Energy & Mineral Law Foundation in Lexington, Kentucky. Will also served in several leadership positions, including President, for the Energy & Mineral Law Society at Appalachian School of Law. While serving as Community Service Chairman of the Energy & Mineral Law Society Will implemented an annual Arbor Day tree planting event in which over 2,000 hardwood saplings were planted on reclaimed mine land in Buchanan County, Virginia. This program led to Will receiving the Appalachian School of Law Willard Owens Community Service Award.
In 2011, Will received his Juris Doctorate degree. That same year he successfully passed the Tennessee Bar Exam, was licensed to practice law in the state court of the State of Tennessee, and joined Jerry N. Estes Law Offices, P.L.L.C. (now Estes & Kennedy Law Offices, P.L.L.C.) as an Associate Attorney.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
