Prior to joining Jones Day, Doug was a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy where he completed the Navy's rigorous nuclear power program and qualified as a nuclear engineer. During his naval career, he addressed NATO allies at a NATO Submarine Conference in Portsmouth, England regarding submarine information sharing and connectivity, acted as a U.S. liaison officer with the Swedish Submarine Force to coordinate the first ever public visit of a Swedish submarine to the Mediterranean, and managed divisions of up to 45 men while on board the USS Columbus out of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
Doug is a Director and Treasurer of the Orange County Patent Law Association, a Director of the Orange County Lavender Bar Association, and a member of the Orange County Bar Association.
