My experience with Mr. Rahimzadeh while he was my attorney, is definitely unforgettable, but not for the right reasons. I don't know if what he did is against the law, but it stunned me as his client. It wouldn't have been so bad, except I had prior experience with Yasha representing me in another legal matter, and I trusted him. Briefly, Yasha represented me where the new owner of the building my apartment was in was trying to evict me. He claimed that landlord/tenant law was a specialty of his, and that he knew rental law for Alameda County. My apartment was in Berkeley, which has special housing laws for the city. Yasha bulldozed right over the top of me and didn't even bother to familiarize himself with specific laws in Berkeley. I told him that the court documents they served me didn't even have date stamps on them, and he just pushed forward. When I expressed to him that I felt suicidal because I couldn't sleep because of the noise and what it was doing to my ability to maintain my mental health, he nonchalantly texted me to go to a medical professional. He did not CARE about my well being. When I told him the new owner had come onto my back porch PRIOR TO TAKING OWNERSHIP OF THE BUILDING to photograph some cigarette butts, so he could complain to the city, as part of a plan to get me out of there, HE JUST IGNORED ME. What I didn't figure out until much, much too late was that Yasha knew what time it was with the new owner and their premeditated plan to force me to leave. Get this, these real estate thugs SPREAD LIES ABOUT ME AT MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT, AND I WAS LET GO, so I quite literally COULDN'T PAY MY RENT! I kept trying to explain to him how the new owner of my building was making it unliveable because of the noise, and how I had evidence the new owner had hacked into my Xfinity line, (which I reported a million times to Comcast, and the FBI.) I was becoming a casualty of real estate mobbing, and I think (I'm not certain) Yasha knew it. I kept finding these files all over my phone showing the breach, and Yasha wouldn't even acknowledge the files. I even had some files on my Google drive showing a certificate authority someone had installed on my phone. At first, Yasha said he would put me in touch with a colleague of his who handled cyber security law, but when I mentioned it, he would ignore me.He basically pushed his agenh was to get me out. I don't know if Yasha received anything of value for betraying me that way. That's not even the worst thing. After he helped get me out, he represented the new owner of my building, Timothy Fitz, in the suit that was filed against him by the Department of Justice for conspiracy to get me out. Yasha used information about me that I never gave him directly to defend Mr. Fitz. Yasha painted a horrible picture of me. He later pumped me for information about myself that he had used in the case to defend Timothy, so he could say that I told him the information about me. He tried to backpedal everything he did claiming I could've negotiated that settlement up or down. He also pretended that he didn't know I was destitute making references to the prior legal issue he represented me with this stupid used AUDI I bought from a dealership, saying that I sure seemed to be able to afford a nice car. The car was a POS and Yasha knew it. He just didn't want people to know that he facilitated getting me out of my place. Yasha has absolutely no empathy for his clients, at least not in my case. I would never allow him to represent me again, and would not encourage anyone else I know to do the same. Last rant, he even used information that could have only been obtained from illegally my Yahoo email account, to defend Timothy. Also, when I mentioned the toxin these people were sprinkling down my old kitchen vent, Yasha's EXACT words to me were, "I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THEY HARMED YOU, BECAUSE I HAVE NEVER SEEN THEM OFFER MONEY BEFORE." He knew exactly what he was doing.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
