Hired Law firm 2021Mr Eppley was hired to handle a case after he spoke confidently about what he could do for me. I paid him his retainer of 3000 and haven't heard a word since. It's been 4 months since he's been hired. There has been no communication unless I call or email and request and sometimes demand it. Then he states he will get back with me by end of day and NEVER does. I asked for a refund and now he has gone dark and won't respond to anything. I had to file a complaint with the Ohio Bar Association and the Ohio Supreme Court this week for help in getting my 3000 dollars back. I am sure I am not alone. You do have options and filing complaints with the bar is the way to go. He is a poor businessman, poor attorney and people should be protected from those who know the law and use it to take your money, not provide any services, and ignore you when you ask for a refund. I would never think of doing business this way!! My advise is to steer clear of this law firm or you will find yourself filling a complaint with the Ohio Bar Association also. I would love to see his face when he gets the notice he's being investigated. I will finally get justice, my refund, and be able to hire a competent attorney.

Hired Law firm 2018-2020Absolutely LOVE Mark Eppley. I have had attorneys in the past who were terrible and let me just say that when I found Mark (Through a friend at church) It was a breath of fresh air. Mark is so kind. He is passionate and he is very knowledgeable. We went to Mark to help us adopt our son. Mark made it happen for us and now we are a complete family. I’m so thankful for Mark and really all the staff at his practice. He’s not your typical lawyer. He actually cares about you and helps you. He listens and he really is just a good person all around.

Hired Law firm 2020Not even worth one star. This law firm was totally unethical and unprofessional. I had an appointment with one attorney whom I signed a contract with, and then out of the blue Eppley started working on my case without a sufficient reason why the first attorney I contacted was not working on it. They both made me feel like I had a reasonable case, but after two months nothing was done. When I started to push as to what was happening, I was given the reason of his daughter was having surgery...first thing Monday morning, a motion would be filed. By Thursday of the next week I called again and this time was told that his father-in-law was in the hospital. (This was during quarantine, so not sure what that had to do with anything.) I finally sent an email demanding a statement of billable hours, definite timeline, and finally seeking retainer in full back if not compliant. Long story short, this attorney refunded my entire retainer and all files without any argument. Obviously, NO work was even started on my case. After seeking other legal advice, was told that I do NOT have a case at all, and that he does not have a clue what he is doing. This attorney should not be practicing law under any circumstance. Do NOT waste your money, time, or energy with this "attorney".

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
