Marshall was born to working class folks in a small town in South Georgia. At age 3, his family moved to Florida for work. Growing up, he worked after school, on weekends, and during school breaks in his family's small construction business. After graduating high school, Marshall moved back to Georgia for college.
While in college, Marshall worked as a butcher, cut lawns, and did construction work to pay his way through. After earning his Associates degree in Political Science with Honors, he got his Class A CDL, and became an over-the-road, long haul truck driver. He travelled through nearly all the 48 contiguous United States.
After a couple years on the road, Marshall returned to Georgia to finish college. While working several part time jobs, in just two years, Marshall graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and a Minor in History. Thereafter, Marshall began studying at Mercer University School of Law. As always, Marshall had to work his way through school. He continued to work as a finish carpenter, interned for a Superior Court Judge, and worked at a personal injury and workers' compensation law firm, where he discovered that he wanted to spend his career helping injured folks. In his 3rd year of law school, he was chosen to join the prestigious and very selective William A. Bootle Inn of Court, and competed on Mercer's behalf at the AAJ Mock Trial Competition.
After working for 3 ½ years in South Georgia at a reputable law firm where he practiced in the Litigation Department, Marshall and his wife moved to the Atlanta area, to be closer to her family. For the first two years in Atlanta, he worked at another reputable law firm in the Litigation Department, this time specializing in defending insurance companies. After working for corporations and insurance companies for several years, Marshall decided it was time to pursue his passion of representing injured folks. Prior to joining The Law Office of Carlos Corless, Marshall represented injured folks for years at another reputable personal injury law firm.
Having worked for big corporations, insurance companies, and now for injured folks, Marshall has a distinctive insight into how companies work and, more importantly, how they value injury cases. Additionally, having attended "formal" schools and universities, as well as "the school of hard knocks" in the real world, Marshall has a unique perspective on what it is like for real, hard-working folks to have their job compromised when they get hurt, through no fault of their own. Folks who are not used to and do not like asking others for help. This is not just a job to Marshall - this is his calling.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
