Angela Faye Brown is an expert attorney and managing partner of Austin’s Angela Faye Brown & Associates, PLLC. As the firm’s lead attorney in family law, Angela is dedicated to helping clients prioritize their children in the difficult business of divorce and child custody. Angela possesses nearly fifteen years of experience in working with and legally representing youth, and it is her priority to ensure that children and parents get through legal proceedings (and all life-changes) with as little trauma as possible.
Before opening Angela Faye Brown & Associates, PLLC, Angela worked at Texas RioGrande Legal Aid (TRLA) in Austin, where she helped survivors of domestic violence and worked on many other family law cases including custody, divorce, visitation, immigration, and procurement of protective orders. Angela also spent years working closely with homeless teenagers at Lifeworks in their teen homeless shelters.
These experiences inspired her to further commit to aiding families with children. She currently works with clients on custody, divorce, visitations, enforcement of custody and child support, protective orders, adoptions, and LGBT family issues. Angela is dedicated to helping her clients and will support you in doing what is best for you and your family.
Angela is originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi but moved to Texas as soon as she could. She is from a large family and returns to Mississippi to visit whenever possible. She is close with her parents and three sisters, as well as her many aunts, uncles and cousins. Family holidays can be busy and chaotic, but she wouldn’t have it any other way.
As an avid Texas football and basketball fan, Angela goes to games as often as she can and regularly stays up late watching college basketball. She enjoys dancing and karaoke on nights when she isn’t at home with her partner being entertained by their two large dogs - a Bernese Mountain Dog and a delightful mutt. They also have two cats that keep the dogs quite occupied.
In her time off, Angela enjoys spending time in nature. She likes to take the dogs to the dog park, going camping, and fishing for crappie in Louisiana with her father. She is currently enjoying her newfound hobby of gardening. She has already successfully grown squash, tomatoes, peppers, and strawberries! Angela also likes to go out for dinner with friends, especially in East Austin.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
