At Dwyer Donovan & Reis, we understand that problems addressed in family law are unlike those in any other legal field. Family law cases involve what matters most: you, your children, and your future. These cases can be emotional, terrifying and overwhelming. For many client's they don't even know where to begin or what their options are for resolving their issue. Our first and most important job is to help educate you so that you can make decisions about how to approach your case. Our firm handles only family law cases so that we can provide the specialized and dedicated representation that our clients require. We then tailor our services so as to meet the unique needs of each person. This often begins with educating our clients about the numerous process choices available, and then helping them determine which is best for themselves and their family. For some, mediation or a collaborative approach provides the optimal path forward; for others, litigation is the clear choice. Once our clients choose a process, we guide and support them step-by-step throughout their case. Through experience, compassion, and respect we strive to help each client find the best way to resolve their conflict.

Our firm offers legal representation and also mediation services. For mediation services, Meegan and Libby serve as the neutral mediator, working directly with couples to help them resolve their disputes and reach an agreement out of Court. For many couples, this allows them to retain control over their decisions and the ultimate outcome of their case. It also offers a private manner to resolve their issues. We work with clients with & without counsel.

Our practice is limited to family law so that we can provide you dedicated, focused, quality representation. We work with clients throughout the Rockingham, Strafford and Southern Carroll Counties of New Hampshire. We represent clients in the Circuit Courts in Dover, Rochester, Portsmouth, Brentwood, Derry, Salem, and Ossipee. We offer both full and limited legal representation and mediation services. Our areas of practice include:

  • Divorce
  • Legal Separation
  • Mediation

  • Paternity

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
