5.0 out of 5 stars

Working with this law firm was a wonderful experience. From the care and consideration they bring to the conversation and the wealth of knowledge and guidance they gave us in planning our living wills, health care and community property agreements was so helpful. We felt in good hands and would highly recommend Girth and Eddy.

Having had the need to engage a number of estate attorneys over the years, and having studied law a bit myself, I feel qualified to make these statements. Let me first say, though, that I found Mr. Eddy to be both a gentleman and a gentle man. For me, he was able to take information given to him through prior documents and only one telephone interview, and apply the applicable law. He created documents that were clear and concise, in easy to read plain English. He understood and captured my true intent the first time, without requiring rework. I am certain he can do the same for you.

Loren Eddy reviewed the situation of my wife and me, discussed his recommendations with me, and then prepared our estate planning documentation for my review. He is a very good listener. I gained strong confidence in his knowledge and experience with estate planning issues. He and his staff create a comfortable atmosphere which helps you relax as you discuss some serious matters. The final documents covered matters thoroughly and with great care. I highly recommend him and the firm.

I wish I could give zero starts, Loren Eddy is a piece of work. 2 1/2 years and still no resolution, numerous calls, no calls back, empty promises and ZERO action, dont waste your time or money, complete JOKE!!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
