As a Partner at Stagnaro Hannigan Koop Co., LPA, Chad G. Koop represents clients in Ohio and Northern Kentucky in matters of family law, including divorce, dissolution, collaborative divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, maintenance, post-decree modifications and enforcement, juvenile court matters, and mediation. While he is an experienced, successful trial lawyer, he also works with clients to find solutions to their problems before they are forced into the courtroom.

Chad received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 2005, and then went on to complete his Juris Doctorate at the University of Dayton School of Law in 2008. Chad guides many families in Ohio and Northern Kentucky through their divorce, custody and family law matters. Chad focuses his practice in family law matters in Hamilton, Clermont, Warren and Butler Counties in Ohio; and in Kenton, Campbell and Boone Counties in Kentucky.

As a domestic relations and family law attorney, Chad thrives on helping people by finding creative solutions that fit their unique situations. His extended experience in the practice area and dedication to client interaction are major contributors to his continued success. He works very hard to develop a strategy catered to the client's individual needs and goals. Chad is confident and prepared to zealously advocate for his client's interests in the most complex, challenging, and high conflict situations.

While the majority of Chad's practice is spent in the courtroom litigating, he believes it is important to educate his clients on options to resolve conflicts outside of court. Through Chad's experience in practicing collaborative law and mediation, he has been able to help people respectfully negotiate creative resolutions, designed to meet their interests and objectives, in a manner that would be very difficult, if not impossible, for a court to do through traditional litigation.

Chad is recognized by the Ohio Supreme Court as a domestic relations mediator and a parenting coordinator. Chad completed the necessary training to be a parenting coordinator to better assist his clients involved in parenting coordination or who may be considering parenting coordination, but he is not actively accepting parenting coordination cases at this time.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
