She graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Psychology and Criminal Justice before going on to earn her Juris Doctor degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2016. She is licensed to practice law in Minnesota State and Federal Courts.

Prior to her career as an attorney, she and her husband owned and operated Northway Oil company Inc. This experience is invaluable when assisting clients in business law, family law, and estate planning services. Kris has served her community as a member of the Morrison County Board of Adjustments, Morrison County Planning Commission, and Little Falls Area Chamber of Commerce Board. She is a current member of the Minnesota Bar Association, and is a Board Member for the Morrison County Law Library, CHI St. Gabriels, and Morrison County Historical Society.
