I have been using Jeffrey Dummier since 2013 and I refer him to everybody I know. He is the best attorney I have ever used in my life. He is very caring and honest and I would not hire another attorney other than him. If he is unable to do it for me I go with is referral. He is very trustworthy. I give all thanks to the person that referred me to him.

Ms. Young has assisted me with a variety of matters, from estate planning to property rights and more, since she was recommended to me a few years ago. She always promptly responds to my calls and emails, once even while she was out of the country on vacation! Her expertise has been invaluable over the years, and I continue to rely on her counsel. I have no doubt my experience has not been unusual.

Liz and Jeff are fantastic. They really helped me through a tough time in my life. I am so glad I was referred to them as I do not know what I would’ve done without them. They really know what they are doing here, any they also help educate you on what is going on. Even the paralegal at the front desk (Carlie) is top notch. If you want the best out there, look no further. I will be a lifelong client for sure.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
