I called the best lawyer in the Baton Rouge area ?Beau Brock? at Brock & Palmintier Law LLC.My story. I have a son who is a young adult with Autism Spectrum Disorder. My worst nightmare occurred on a Thursday evening. You see he does not drive, although he is high functioning. He does not know phone numbers either. He relies on his phone to contact me. He attends college. I drop him off before class and pick him up after I get off of work in the evening. One Thursday evening when I went to pick up my son from college, he was not at the pickup place. I tried calling his cellphone. It went straight to voice mail. So I waited and waited. After 3 hrs I finally called the campus police. They informed me he had been arrested for the charge of Obscenity and was in the local prison. I had no way to get in touch with him nor he me. They took his phone without allowing him to make a phone call. I called the jail. My worst night mare. I was told he would have to call me. They also told me he would be out on bail on Friday. That never happened. He could not get a message to me nor would they let me get a message to him. Friday came. I kept calling to see what the bail would be. To my utter shock before he could post bail, the judge required a mental health exam by a forensic psychologist appointed by the court. The court system don?t work quickly. It was a Friday evening and he had to wait for the judge to appoint a Psychologist which was closed. then the psychologist would have to see I him in the jail after she received the court order.
