Senator Steve Roberts, a fourth-generation St. Louisan, began his law career in private practice in California. However, he felt a call to serve his community and returned to St. Louis to take a job as a prosecutor for the city of St. Louis. In this role, he honed his skills in the courtroom, serving on the Armed Offender Unit and participating in prosecuting over a hundred cases.
This participation in the criminal justice system inspired him to start a career in public service and to affect change on a statewide level. Roberts was elected to the Missouri House of Representatives in 2016 and the Missouri State Senate in 2020. Currently, he serves as the chair of the Missouri Legislative Black Caucus. As a state legislator, Roberts has been an unflinching advocate for Missouri’s most vulnerable citizens. He has advocated for criminal justice reform, women’s rights, and voter empowerment.
Roberts continues this passion for advocacy, empowerment, and fairness with Roberts Law, LLC. He founded the firm to enable him to serve the St. Louis community on a more personal level. Driven by his passion for justice and equity, Roberts approaches personal injury law with a service-oriented mindset—focusing on telling your story, making sure that you are treated fairly, and ensuring that not only will you receive the maximum award you deserve, but that you will be treated with dignity throughout the entire process.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
