Prior to joining Chavez and Valko, Mrs. Montalvo worked at the Mexican Consulate in Dallas in both the Department of Documentation, and Protection and Legal Services.
Mrs. Montalvo obtained her Juris Doctorate from St. Mary’s University School of Law. During law school, she clerked at the San Antonio Immigration Court, and the LaSalle Immigration Court in Jena, Louisiana, writing decisions for Immigration Judges. She was a Student Attorney at the Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, where she represented detained immigrants at detention centers in South Texas, as well as asylum seekers in Mexico a part of the Migrant Protection Protocol Program (MPPP). She was a part of The Scholar: Law Review on Race and Social Justice as a Staff Writer and Associate Editor, and was Research Assistant to Professor Roberto Rosas, who focuses on U.S.-Mexico comparative law. Mrs. Montalvo also holds a Bachelor of Science in International Political Economy from the University of Texas at Dallas.
Mrs. Montalvo is a native Spanish speaker who grew up in Monterrey, Mexico. Mrs. Montalvo lives in Dallas, and in her free time likes watching movies and going on walks with her husband and son.
