Crystal is a native of Rome, Georgia and has been practicing both civil and criminal law for over ten (10) years. Crystal is licensed in Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, and practices in the areas of federal tax, estate planning, and probate matters. Prior to joining Joe Marion, Attorney at Law, Crystal practiced as a criminal prosecutor for the State of Georgia and at The Burkhalter Firm, LLC. Collectively, these experiences allow her to practice across the southeast, in any federal jurisdiction, and with inside knowledge of prosecution and defense strategies.

Before attending law school, Crystal graduated from Berry College with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. In 2009, Crystal graduated from The John Marshall Law School in Atlanta, and culminated her legal education with a Master of Laws in Taxation from The University of Alabama's School of Law in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 2012. She enjoys assisting clients with intersecting matters of estate planning, taxation, business, and probate, and her extensive education and diverse legal expertise allow her to find creative solutions to complex legal problems. Additionally, she provides ancillary probate work in Florida and Alabama to simplify complex estate matters for her clients.

When not practicing law, Crystal enjoys spending time with her children and husband. Her joys include photography, being outdoors, and collecting Boston Terriers.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
