Danielle Leventhal Elias of counsel to Korsinsky & Klein, LLP and is the principal in Danielle Leventhal Elias , Esq., a firm located in Staten Island, NY. She has been practicing law for over 23 years. Danielle has focused her practice on a broad range of trust and estate planning services, including wills, trusts, guardianship, probate and estate administration. Her specialization also includes Elder law, Medicaid, long-term care asset protection and high net worth estate tax planning.

Danielle is an Executive Committee member of the New York State Bar Association's Elder Law and Special Needs Section and an active member of the Trusts and Estate Section of the New York State Bar Association and Richmond County Bar Association.

Danielle's interest in this area of the law stems from personal experience of how her work can impact her client's lives by making a difference during their most difficult of times. Danielle grew up watching her mother care for her grandfather for almost 20 years and then Danielle herself became caretaker for her own parents. Through these personal experiences, Danielle witnessed the wisdom that age brings and learned to treasure that special quality of elders. Danielle's work as an elder law and estate planning attorney builds on the life experience of empathy with client needs and a highly developed legal expertise. Danielle couples these two strengths - life experience to empathize with her clients and the legal expertise to serve them - to provide the best Elder Law has to offer.

Danielle takes great pride in her client relationships which combined with her compassion, strong ethics, and legal knowledge enable her to guide and educate her clients through complex legal and long-term care matters. Danielle serves clients in Staten Island, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Westchester and Nassau County.

Danielle lives with her family in Staten Island, New York. She can often be found with her husband, Jason, cheering on her older son, Colin, on the golf course or her younger son, Aidan, on stage and on the soccer field. Danielle loves spending time with her family enjoying all the fun activities that NYC has to offer, hiking in the beautiful mountains of NY, relaxing on the beach or simply walking with their dog, Peach.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
