Bennettsville Personal Injury Law Firm

Overview

Experience and dedication—those are the attributes of one of South Carolina's most respected law offices, Douglas Jennings Law Firm, LLC, of Bennettsville.

Founder Douglas Jennings is a former state legislator and a recipient of the University of South Carolina's Compleat Lawyer Award. For more than 40 years, Doug has been representing clients in the Pee Dee Region who have been harmed by the negligence of others.

Mason King, a life-long resident of the Pee Dee Region and former literature professor at Clemson University, joined the firm in 2012. Since that time, he has tried numerous cases in both state and federal courts with stunning results. His dedication to providing outstanding service for his clients has not gone unrecognized. Beginning in 2017 and for every year since, Mason has been named to the Super Lawyers list for attorneys representing injured plaintiffs, a distinction that only the top 5% of attorneys receive each year.

In early 2020, Retired Circuit Judge J. Michael Baxley joined the Douglas Jennings Law Firm and opened the firm’s satellite office in Charleston, SC. Mike has extensive experience in a variety of legal and business settings, and the current focus of his law practice centers on complex business litigation and catastrophic personal injury litigation.

Our firm is known for its successes in representing plaintiffs injured in automobile and tractor-trailer collisions. Our attorneys also represent plaintiffs in the areas of medical malpractice, wrongful death and dram shop liability.

Clients know they can turn to our lawyers for our extensive experience in a variety of legal matters, our dedication to protecting those who have been harmed and injured, and our commitment to upholding the ideals of justice.

If you have been injured or harmed in any way and need legal representation, we invite you to contact our main office in Bennettsville or our satellite office in Charleston. As experienced trial attorneys, our legal team is dedicated to serving your needs.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
