Overview

Jim Wiederrich joined the firm in 1980. He concentrates his practice in business and corporate law, including agribusiness, banking, real estate, and mergers and acquisitions. He is a member of the State Bar of South Dakota.

In recent years, Jim has put his agricultural background to use in organizing, capitalizing, and representing dozens of companies that produce and/or process agricultural commodities. These enterprises successfully operate in the ethanol, soybean processing and biodiesel fuel, and livestock production industries. He provides legal services in the areas of organization structure, taxation, equity offerings, finance, construction and general operations.

Jim's clients include agricultural processors and enterprises, banks, medical practices, real estate developers. contractors, retail sales, professional services, and manufacturers.

He has been named as a leader in Corporate Law and Mergers & Acquisitions Law, and more recently in Administrative Law, Banking Law by The Best Lawyers in America 2011, and also appears in Chambers U.S.A.: America's Leading Lawyers for Business in both the Corporate/Commercial and Real Estate practice areas. He is named in "Great Plains Super Lawyers" (published by Minnesota Law & Politics magazine) 2007, 2008, and 2009 in the area of business/corporate.

Jim has served on numerous community boards. He is currently a member of the Volunteers of America and the Dakotas Foundation in Sioux Falls, SD. He is also a board member for the Sioux Empire United Way and serves on the Business Leadership Council of the Sioux Falls Area Chamber of Commerce. In 2009 Jim was named to the Avera McKennan board of trustees. He also serves as the chairperson for the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation.
