Overview

Chasity Sharp Grice is an attorney in Memphis, Tennessee. She is a native of Tennessee and is admitted to the Bars of Tennessee and Texas. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Clark Atlanta University with her Bachelor of Arts in English. She then attended the University of Tennessee College of Law, where she received her law degree with a concentration in Transactional Tax Planning. Chasity has worked for Certified Public Accounting firms where she focused in estate planning for middle to high net worth families. After working for these firms, she opened her own law practice, where she practiced in the areas of probate, estate planning, and family law. Chasity was one of only two attorneys in the firm, whose primarily responsibilities included in estate tax planning for middle to high net worth families. This included assisting her clients with estate tax planning strategies, including but not limited to charitable trusts, family limited partnerships, and marital deduction planning.

Chasity was also responsible for the preparation of estate tax returns, fiduciary income tax returns, and gift tax returns. Further, she ensured that the estate planning strategies recommended to her clients continued to benefit her clients by reviewing plans annually and, when necessary, initiated new estate planning strategies. Chasity was also responsible for training the tax accountants in the areas involving estate and gift tax planning and preparation.

In 2010, Mrs. Grice started her own legal practice where she continued her estate planning and also started a practice in fiduciary litigation, estate and trust administration. She continued to receive continuing education in these areas through her participation with the Dallas Estate Planning Council and the State Bar of Texas, Estate planning and probate section. From 2007 until 2011, Chasity received extensive training with the University of Texas, at Dallas, wherein her focus was tax accounting, specifically in the estate and gift tax areas.

In 2015, she joined the firm of Peppel, Gomes & MacIntosh, P.C. where she focused her practice in the areas of probate, estate planning, and elder law. In 2017, the firm changed its name to Peppel, Grice & Palazzolo, P.C. Chasity has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Memphis in the areas of family law and estates, trusts, and probate law. Chasity regularly accepts court appointments as guardian ad litem and attorney ad litem from the Shelby County probate court judges and has previously accepted appointments from the probate courts located in Dallas, Collin, and Tarrant Counties of Texas. She serves as trustee for irrevocable trusts and is sometimes appointed to serve in this capacity. She is regularly appointed to represent individuals with mental disabilities facing emergency judicial commitments before the Mental Health Court judges.

Further, she has served as Substitute Judge for Shelby County Probate Court Judges, Divisions I and II, and Shelby County General Sessions Court. Chasity is a Commissioner with the American Bar Association's Commission on Law and Aging, a member of the Memphis Bar Association, the Estate Planning and Probate section of the Memphis Bar Association, serves as a member of the Continuing Education Committee of the Tennessee Bar Association. As the former Western Tennessee Governor for Memphis, Tennessee, within the Tennessee Bar Association's Young Lawyer's Division, Chasity was responsible for coordinating the Annual Wills for Heroes clinic for four consecutive years. She is a former Trusts and Estates fellow of the American Bar Association Real Property Trust & Estate section, and a current fellow for the American Bar Foundation.

In 2016, Chasity was accepted as a Young Leader of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). In 2018, she was appointed to the American Bar Association's Commission on Law and Aging for a three-year term. She works remotely with Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services where she gives legal advice to seniors at least sixty (60) years of age and up in Tennessee. She has dedicated her career to the area of Trusts and Estates, more specifically to serving families with disabled loved ones or seniors. She has recently obtained her LLM degree in Elder law and Estate planning with Western New England School of Law and strives to educate the public about the many resources available to them and their special needs or aging loved ones in order to have the best quality of life possible. In 2017, 2018, and 2019, Chasity was voted as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers.
