El Paso (Sex, Age, Race, Religion) Wrongful Termination Law Firm
Overview
I am attorney Soraya Yanar Hanshew of The Hanshew Law Firm, PLLC, in El Paso, Texas. Through my law firm, I handle a range of employment law and litigation matters, including labor issues and wrongful termination based on sex, age, race, religion or other factors. I also represent clients for complex civil litigation matters, contract claims, civil rights lawsuits and consumer rights abridgement suits.
In my employment law practice, I focus primarily on discrimination, which may include cases related to sexual harassment; wrongful termination for sex, age, race, religion, national origin or disability; and retaliation claims. I also assist clients with workers' compensation retaliation, administrative hearings and appeals; wage and hour claims; unemployment appeals; and representation in administrative hearings with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC).
I am a native of El Paso and a graduate of Coronado High School. After obtaining a B.A. in political science and a B.A. in English studies from Stanford University, I went on to complete my law degree at Stanford Law School in 2001. I am admitted to practice in Texas and California state courts, as well as certain federal courts, and in 2008 I was selected for inclusion in the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars.
My law office offers comprehensive services, from legal counseling to representation in grievance proceedings to mediation, arbitration, litigation and trials. Additionally, I am a highly skilled advocate for your legal concerns in the state, federal and appellate courts.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
