Hands down the best lawyer in Texas! Alicia achieved what I thought was impossible. She successfully modified my custody orders and lifted a geographic restriction. While everyone's situation is different, Alicia helped me in exactly the ways I needed. After trying several other lawyers, a recommendation led me to her, and I am forever grateful to her and her team for accepting my case and working diligently to get the results I wanted. She brought an eight-year-long custody battle to a positive conclusion for me. Alicia never asked for exorbitant fees beyond what was necessary. Her expertise is top-notch, and she never pressured me for extra money. In fact, she often advised me on ways to save costs, discussing the realities of potential expenses and suggesting alternatives to mitigate further fees. She is worth every penny. I cannot say enough positive things about Ms. Lackey. She is educated, composed, professional, and carries herself exceptionally well. Of course, use your own judgment when choosing a lawyer. I saw some of the negative reviews, and I can assure you that that was NOT my experience with her at all. There are circumstances where lawyers just cannot accept certain cases, or a different kind of lawyer is needed. Be mindful of that before sharing misinformation. Don?t let a single negative review deter you from seeking her guidance and professionalism. She is the best!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
