Attorney Information

Overview

Jerry Salcido is one of the most experienced criminal defense lawyers in Utah. With more than two decades of law practice behind him, there is little he hasn't seen. He excels in the courtroom and thrives in front of juries.

Even before graduating near the top of his class from J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, he was defending indigent clients and practicing before the courts as a law student under a special exception to the rules.

While Jerry is focused on all aspects of criminal defense, he focuses heavily in defending those accused of violent crimes including sexual offenses, and has some of the most experience in trying cases through jury verdict of any attorney in the State.

Salcido Law is a great firm. They are tenacious at heart and they bring that same enthusiasm and passion when it comes to helping their clients. Inside the court, I could tell Jerry Salcido was respected. He knew how to represent my case and was able to settle it in my favor. He always kept in touch, was caring, and hard working. He is an intelligent lawyer who knows the court system well. I’m satisfied with the outcome of my case and grateful that I found someone I could trust. I would recommend him.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
