Tracing our law firm's roots back to 1976, our attorneys at Wolfe Williams & Austin provide dedicated Social Security Disability representation to people in Norton, Virginia, as well as throughout Southwest Virginia and eastern Tennessee. We understand the hardship that being left unable to work due to a disabling condition can have on our clients and their families, and our team strives to help them obtain the benefits they need.
Whether clients are initiating the application process or have already had their claims denied by the Social Security Administration, we begin with a free initial consultation. At that time, our attorneys review with clients their situations and medical records, as well as discuss with them their rights and options. We keep our clients informed throughout the process, so they know what to expect at each stage.
When clients' injuries were the result of workplace accidents or otherwise due to performing their job duties, we help them file workers' compensation claims. Regularly participating in professional association activities in order to stay up to date on the most recent law and regulation changes, our attorneys guide clients through the compensation process, working to help them recover the assistance they deserve. Our law firm also represent clients in cases involving faulty respirators, and state and federal black lung claims.
In addition to pursuing state and federal benefits on behalf of those injured or who otherwise have permanently disabling conditions, our team at the law firm of Wolfe Williams & Austin provides personal injury representation. Acting as our clients' advocates, we help them pursue the maximum compensation in cases involving matters such as motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, product liability, motor vehicle defects, wrongful death and toxic torts. We also offer personal injury defense.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
