I hired Todd as my attorney for a Child Custody case in 2022. The custody case concluded late last year and the Child Support Modification concluded earlier this year. At the start I had 4 years of documentation (texts, emails, videos, photos) for him to sift through and use to put a case together with. From the very start, Todd was willing to answer any and all questions I had, which were many as well as ask tons of questions to get a better understanding of my specific case. There was never a time when he wasn’t available. He was able to help guide me through the processes I would need to understand how the court system works in Washington State. Prior to each hearing, Todd communicated extremely well whether it was through text, emails or phone calls and was able to effectively explain what was going to be happening and prepare me for what the potential outcomes were for each one. From start to finish, I felt that Todd was 100% on my side and fought to give me the best legal representation he could based on the evidence, facts and circumstances he was given to work with. Todd is absolutely an advocate for parental rights and he worked tirelessly to ensure that my rights as a parent were protected. While I may not have gotten the overall outcome I was seeking from the custody case, Todd was able to ensure that my concerns were addressed in front of the court and I went from a Parenting Plan that was completely not in my favor, to one that I feel allows me substantially more time with my child. If you are looking for an attorney with experience, patience, respect, is a good communicator, listens to your problems and offers honest logical solutions based on fact, extremely knowledgeable in child custody law and is willing to be patient with you as a client, then Todd and the entire Yelish, Barker and Cunningham Law Firm is where you need to be seeking representation.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
