Overview
Jamie Wiegand focuses his practice on patent, trademark and copyright procurement, litigation and opinion work in the high-tech areas of electronics, computer software and hardware, Internet, networks, telecommunications and other related technologies. Mr. Wiegand, a registered patent attorney, has significant background in computing security, electronic commerce, estimation theory, public key infrastructures, real-time simulations and related technologies.
In 2003, Mr. Wiegand assisted lead counsel in the defense of Vivonet, Inc., in an arbitration case involving breach of contract and copyright infringement, which settled favorably for the defendants. Micros Systems, Inc. v. Vivonet, Inc., AAA Case No. 161810074902 (2003). Mr. Wiegand also provided support to plaintiff Panicware, Inc., in a copyright infringement case where the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington held that the defendants willfully infringed Panicware's exclusive rights to their copyrighted work, and awarded damages, attorney's fees and costs. Panicware v. Mobile Software Technologies, !Shoppingcart.com Corp., and Ken Vadas, (C02-2012L, 2004).
Mr. Wiegand spent more than twenty years at the Boeing Company, at first a software engineer and then for more than a decade as a manager and systems architect for computing infrastructures. At Boeing, he developed programs for real-time, persons-in-the-loop simulations and developed expertise in estimation theory, public key infrastructures and compiling security. He also directed computing infrastructures, including a company-wide Public Key Infrastructure. In addition, Mr. Wiegand assisted in the creation of procedures for trademark protection and the selection, registration and protection of Internet domain names.
Mr. Wiegand volunteers for several organizations, including the American Heart Association, which sponsors the annual American Heart Walks.
